Land of a Million Temples
Lost to travelers for decades, Cambodia, the heart of Indochina, is now firmly back on the map. Sandwiched between its larger and more powerful neighbors, a unique culture and society, whose dominant influence stems from the Indian subcontinent, is being reborn. Riding South through the Central Plains that divide the Cardamom Mountains from South East Asia’s largest lake, brings us to Phnom Penh, the ‘Pearl of Asia’. After a brief visit to the coastal resort of Sihanoukville, and skirting around the Elephant Mountains, we head north to our ultimate goal: Angkor! Aside from being the world’s largest religious building, the extravagant beauty of these temples combines a grace and majesty that will leave no visitor doubting that they have witnessed one of the architectural wonders of the world!
